Ashley Oursler, LCPC
Hi! I’m Ashley Oursler, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor serving individuals, couples, and families throughout Maryland. My main priority is providing a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to share their experiences and struggles without fear of judgment. I believe that walking alongside my clients with empathy, support, and collaboration is essential to building a trusting relationship that can lead to positive change and improved well-being.
I began my counseling journey as a crisis counselor in Calvert County, providing support and counseling services to children, adolescents, women, and men experiencing crisis and trauma. I then transitioned to working with men and women in the fire service who were experiencing a range of mental health concerns, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, OCD, OCPD, stress, and substance use.
My passion lies in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and are struggling with post-traumatic stress. I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, a specialized form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that is designed to help reduce symptoms of PTSD. I use a strengths-based approach while also incorporating cognitive behavioral techniques focused on addressing the thoughts and beliefs that can keep us feeling “stuck.”
As a mother of three active children, I understand the challenges of managing the day-to-day demands of work, parenting, relationships, and family life. I believe that incorporating practical stress-reduction techniques into everyday routines is an important part of supporting emotional and mental well-being.
While being a full-time mother and wife, I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and my Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Post University. I currently live in Southern Maryland with my husband, children, dog, and cat.
